SUMMARY:Hiboux & Triumphs & No Broadcast
DESCRIPTION:LIFE IS NOISE PUBLICITY PRESENTS:\n\nHIBOUX (NZ)\n\nCOMMAND THE EARTH TO SWALLOW ME UP AUS/NZ ALBUM TOUR - JUNE/JULY\n\nWITH GUESTS TRIUMPHS & NO BROADCAST\n\nLIFE IS NOISE Publicity is proud to announce that Hiboux have locked in dates for their upcoming Australian and New Zealand tour\, taking their entrancing instrumental post-rock to selected venues across June and July.\n\nWith New Zealand’s post-rock scene becoming more and more prominent every day\, Hiboux recently broke forth with an epic volume to the country’s musical history with Command The Earth To Swallow Me Up\, released in March of 2017. The album flows upon ears as naturally and gracefully as water from a mountain stream falling into the sea – important to note the same can be said about their cunning use of key changes and transitions.\n\n“Command The Earth To Swallow Me Up is a solid debut from a band that sounds like it has a lot to offer. Listening to the album as a whole carries the listener through dreamy sets of swells that evoke strong imagery. It is most definitely the kind of album you can lose yourself in; just drift away and get taken for a ride.” – Arctic Drones\n\nHiboux have taken extra lengths to make sure that the versatile spirit of the music transfers from album to stage seamlessly\, investing years in chasing the perfect sound for their debut record. Making a conscious effort to make the record sound ‘live’\, guitarist Bern Stock confesses that he spent upward of a year and a half carefully engaging with his pedals and amps to create a tone that masterfully fluctuates between stampeding heavy segments and floating lighter moments\, all the while remaining truly unique to the band.\n\n“Each track is distinctly different from the previous\, but they fit together giving a real sense of journey. When you close your eyes you can imagine countless scenarios that this soundtrack would fit with\, and that is the beauty of instrumental work; without lyrics\, the listener is free to choose the emotion and meaning that fits them individually.” – Music.net.nz\n\nHiboux’s open\, encompassing sound is something worth experiencing live – the spirit of the music provokes a trance like concentration out of the listener and needs to be felt first hand. Make sure you witness these shows through early June through to late July while you have the chance.\n\nTRIUMPHS\n\nWith a history of making music together now counting past the first decade\, Mathew Anderson (drums) and John Bollen (guitar) of experimental two-piece rock band Triumphs are keeping good on their promise to produce a second release with a forthcoming album set to blink its way into the daylight later this year. Having taken their cues from the more progressively-minded metal bands of the last decade or so\, John and Mat have been wrenching the outright heaviness of their previous bands towards something more expansive\, all the while maintaining a mathematic-loving technical brutality. They share a sense of individuality and musical experimentation with the better part of Dunedin's musical community\, along with a wry humour\, which was very much in evidence in the Edmund Hillary/Mount Everest theme of their debut album from 2015. The new recording sees a continued collaboration with Dunedin-based recording maestro Dale Cotton\, and visual artist Sam Ovens\, the results of which will be both a visual and aural feast for the discerning music listening public.\n\nNO BROADCAST\n\nHailing from Christchurch\, NZ\, No Broadcast’s impressive mixture of atmospheric\, ambient and drone qualities are not easily described without witnessing them first hand. The three-piece Sonic/Post-Rock group’s use of ‘filmic’ textures may be reminiscent of HDU\, Jakob and Kerretta\, yet their influences span across all spectrums of Rock\, Alternative and Electronics past. Like being dragged into the undertow of tidal wave riffs\, drowned in an ocean of feedback before being given the kiss of life by a unique brand of melodic industrial drone psychedelica.\n...That is No Broadcast.\n\nCatch Hiboux and guests at one of the following dates:\n\nFriday June 2 - Space Academy\, Christchurch
